What is USAID AGRO’s scope of work?
The USAID AGRO Activity is an international technical assistance project funded by USAID and implemented by Chemonics. The goal of the USAID AGRO Activity is to accelerate the economic development of rural communities in Ukraine that need the most support.
This is achieved by improving governance in the agricultural sector, which promotes the development of more productive, modern, and profitable micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural enterprises (MSMEs). This enables MSMEs to successfully integrate into competitive Ukrainian and international markets.
In the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the USAID AGRO Activity has adapted its activities to preserve and restore the economic activity of agricultural producers, restore supply channels, and ensure food security in Ukraine and worldwide.
The AGRO Activity aims to achieve three main goals that align with the three elements of the market system: value chains, support functions, and regulatory framework:
Increasing productivity and market access.
Improving complementary functions in agriculture.
Enhancing the regulatory framework in the agricultural sector.
